SIRI Client Cracked !

Well, if you are asking what Siri is, here it is. Siri is the new vocal personal assistant exclusively designed for the users of iPhone 4S. Well, there are obvious restrictions to this software. Main restriction is: It can only run on Apple's iPhone 4S. But, our beloved hackers (White hat) have bugged it (In a good way. No offence) so that it can even be installed android handsets.

Of joy, Of joy....!
This is how SIRI works. You boot up that application, while it is running on background: you ask some questions (Not typing, just ask by your mouth. Like talk !). Then Siri uses its servers to process your question to return with your answer. But the servers which Siri uses to process your question can be made accessible by other devices too.

Thanks to Applidium which is a French mobile software company responsible for this creation. When asked how they made this work on other devices, they said that they reverse engineered the protocol that Siri uses to "talk" to its servers. The software company found a tweak to intercept & decrypt the uplink and downlink by setting up a fake DNS server and duplicating the security certificates allowing the company to intercept the details of data format.

So, are you all buckled up to get this app to your Androids and other devices? Well, here is some bad news. Actually, Apple provides every iPhone 4S with a unique key. Unless the request header contains an actual key from an iPhone 4S, the servers won’t process the request. The software firm has not yet come with any idea to tackle with the authentication part.

Another news says that not only iPhone 4S, but even its older version have the capability to support SIRI. If it wants, Apple could incorporate SIRI into older iPhones via a simple iOS update. They say that they offer SIRI to iPhone 4S to differentiate it from their older versions.

Verdict?
Applidium has released codes which can be used to replicate the SIRI client application.
A single piece of code is what protects SIRI from responding to any other devices other than iPhone 4S.
If one key is taken from an iPhone 4S and used for other devices which have a SIRI client, apple could simply lock that key.
